The State Educational Institution "Branch of the Technological University of Tajikistan in Kulob" was established in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 471 dated October 25, 2003.
The Branch of the Technological University of Tajikistan in Kulob, as a structural unit of the Technological University of Tajikistan, began its operations under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Based on the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 13, 2015, No. 149, the Branch of the Technological University of Tajikistan was renamed the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management in Kulob.
On December 28, 2024, during his Address to the Parliament (Majlisi Oli) of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the Main Directions of Domestic and Foreign Policy of the Republic", the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, proposed:
"...with the aim of expanding innovation processes, fully utilizing the potential of digital technologies in the economy, and creating the best conditions for personnel training, the University of Innovation and Digital Technologies shall be established on the basis of the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management of Kulob. This university shall be granted the status of the main base for training specialists in this field, and additionally, relevant faculties and departments shall be established in all higher professional education institutions of the country."
Based on the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 29, 2025, No. 319, the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management in Kulob was transformed into the University of Innovation and Digital Technologies of Tajikistan. The Charter of the University was approved by the order of the Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated June 26, 2025, No. "F" 01-3a/35.
The university charter was officially approved by the relevant order.
